The new Richmond United soccer field facility represents the unification of the Richmond Kickers and Strikers, who combined to form Richmond United and create a shared home for the region’s growing soccer community. The project, partially funded by a $1.75 million Henrico County grant, includes a new 5,000 sq. ft. office building, locker rooms, storage space, and two outdoor futsal courts. The facility includes multiple fields, training rooms, offices, and storage areas, all designed to support year-round operations and player development. Its fields are used primarily for youth soccer and can serve up to 9,000 kids throughout the year, with four underground water-retention tanks playing a critical role in managing drainage challenges encountered during construction and ongoing field maintenance. The complex also features futsal courts—soccer played on a tennis-sized court—a fast-growing format that has surged in popularity over the past decade.
